Building Community

NeighborWorks Umpqua's experienced staff helps small communities and municipalities obtain funding and manage infrastructure projects. These include upgrades to water and waste water systems and street and park improvements in over 15 communities in Coos, Curry and Douglas Counties in Southwest Oregon.

City of Port Orford Port Upgrade

NeighborWorks Umpqua provided technical assistance to the City of Port Orford to obtain funding and handle project management for a $5 million Port upgrade.

The pier was converted from 1930's timber and post construction to a much larger concrete decked pier. The Port is open to the ocean allowing fishing boats are hauled out of the water nightly. The upgrade included two new cranes.

Winston-Dillard Rice Creek Water System Expansion Project

NeighborWorks Umpqua provided Grant Administration services to the Winston-Dillard Water District for a project that extended their water distribution system to include the Willis and Rice Creek areas.

Thanks to the efforts of NeighborWorks Umpqua residents are now receiving municipal water.

Wetlands Management

NeighborWorks Umpqua owns several subdivisions that include common wetland areas. Wetland maintenance plans are developed for each individual wetland area. Information signs are posted to teach residents about the vegetation and wildlife associated with each site.
