NeighborWorks Umpqua partners with IRS to open Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Sites
NeighborWorks Umpqua is seeking interested persons to take part in their Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Preparation service for this upcoming tax season in Roseburg and Coos Bay areas.
“We are honored to have partnered with the IRS to open these sites and serve our community,” explains Katelyn Dzialowy, Volunteer Coordinator with NeighborWorks Umpqua. “With these volunteer-led tax sites, we are hoping to increase participation in tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) that are often missed with self-filing.”
According to the Senate Majority Office with the Oregon State Legislature, in 2013 – the most recent year of available statistics – Oregon’s participation with EITC was 74 percent, falling well below the 80-percent national average. NeighborWorks Umpqua hopes to increase that number by helping individuals file their taxes and participate in the EITC along with other tax credits that could be missed.
Tax preparation sites will open February 5, 2018, and go through April 14, 2018. In order to participate, you must call and reserve a spot, as we anticipate heavy customer volume. Those interested in securing a spot should contact Katelyn at firstname.lastname@example.org or 541-673-4909. To see where we are located, make sure to visit our Tax Preparation page
