NeighborWorks Umpqua helps residents of Douglas, Coos, Curry, Jackson, and Josephine counties to achieve financial freedom and housing stability. The successes of our customers also represent economic investment in the communities we serve, promoting growth and broader resilience. 

 

In 2023 and 2024, we have provided hundreds of households with affordable housing, rental and home repair assistance, homeownership and savings programs, foreclosure intervention, and financial education and counseling. We have also expanded into climate resilience work, with new green-energy programs serving both renters and homeowners.

Down Payment Assistance

22 first-time homebuyers received $778,907 in downpayment assistance through our HUD-certified Home Ownership Center. Fifty nine percent of our participants were first-generation homebuyers too.

Home Repair Assistance

53 low-income households received $726,519 in assistance

through our CDBG Home Repair Program.

Matched Savings Programs 

114 households received $826,657 in match grants

through our Dream$avers IDA Program

 

100 households received $250,000 in match grants through

our Resilience Matched Savings Program.


Affordable Rental Housing 

NWU owns and manages 653 units of affordable rental housing in Douglas, Coos, and Lane counties, with over 1000 residents calling our properties home. 

Financial Education & Counseling

494 households received financial education and counseling services

through our HUD-certified Homeownership Center.

Foreclosure Intervention Counseling 

156 households avoided foreclosure through the

help of our HUD-certified housing counselors.  

Rent & Utility Assistance 

188 households received $415,000 in direct

rent and utility assistance from NWU.

Resident Services

Our resident services team responded to over 400 requests for case

management and supportive services to prevent eviction and enhance residents' quality of life.


Supportive services totaled $56,668 and included such things as cleaning supplies, furniture, and groceries.
